NGC 6285 is a Lenticular Galaxy in the Draco constellation. NGC 6285 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its B magnitude of 15.3, NGC 6285 is visible with the help of a telescope having an aperture of 20 inches (500mm) or more.

Arp 293 consists of two interacting galaxies, NGC 6285 and NGC 6286, in the constellation Draco. The leftmost galaxy is NGC 6286, a magnitude 13.3 spiral of type SbP (peculiar) that measures 1.3’ x 1.2’. Its interacting companion is NGC 6285, a spiral galaxy of type S0P and magnitude 13.6, measuring 1.2’ x 0.7’.
