NGC 6306 is a Barred Spiral Galaxy in the Draco constellation. NGC 6306 is situated close to the northern celestial pole and, as such, it is visible for most part of the year from the northern hemisphere.

NGC 6306 ist eine 13,8 mag helle Balken-Spiralgalaxie vom Hubble-Typ SBab im Sternbild Drache am Nordsternhimmel. Sie ist schätzungsweise 142 Millionen Lichtjahre von der Milchstraße entfernt und hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 40.000 Lichtjahren. Gemeinsam mit NGC 6307 bildet sie das gravitativ gebundene Galaxienpaar Holm 769 oder KPG 504.

2023年8月23日 · Historical Identification: Per Dreyer, NGC 6306 (Swift list II (#51), 1860 RA 17 05 53, NPD 29 06.0) is "very faint, very small, a little extended".

NGC 6306 is a Barred Spiral Galaxy located in the constellation of Draco in the northern hemisphere. NGC 6306 is called NGC 6306 in the New General Catalogue (NGC). This catalogue is a list of deep space objects compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888 to update John Herschel's earlier work.

We obtained three spectra of NGC 6306, two of them with the 107" telescope of the Mc-Donald Observatory with UVITS spectrograph and dispersion of about 230 ~/mm, and one with the 200" telescope of the Palomar Observatory using a Cassegrain spectrograph and a disper-sion of about 190 A/mm.
