NGC 637 is an open cluster of stars in the northern constellation of Cassiopeia, positioned about 1.5° to the WNW of the star Epsilon Cassiopeiae. [2] [5] The cluster was discovered on 9 November 1787 by German-born English astronomer William Herschel. [6]

NGC 637 is a Open Cluster in the Cassiopeia constellation. NGC 637 is situated close to the northern celestial pole and, as such, it is visible for most part of the year from the northern hemisphere. Given its visual magnitude of 8.2, NGC 637 is visible with the help of a binocular with a 40-50mm aperture or a small telescope.

The open cluster NGC 637 is located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is on 20 October in opposition to the Sun. From Switzerland they can best be seen in the months January to December.

NGC 637 is 1.3° west and slightly north of ε Cassiopeiae (Segin), the easternmost and, at magnitude 3.3, the faintest of the five stars that make up Cassiopeia’s ‘wonky W’. It transits close to midnight towards the end of October at an altitude of 80° from mid-Britain. The cluster is relatively bright at magnitude 8.2.

From Virginia Beach , NGC637 will become visible at around 18:39 (EST), 56° above your north-western horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. It will then sink towards the horizon, becoming tricky to observe after 00:22 when it dips 21° above your north-western horizon. All times shown in Virginia Beach local time.

2014年4月28日 · NGC 637 is a small, tight, open cluster in Cassiopeia west of the Soul and Heart Nebulae. It is in the original Herschel 400 observing list and was discovered by William Herschel on November 9, 1787.
