NGC 7303 is a barred spiral galaxy [2] around 170 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Pegasus. [2] [3] NGC 7303 was discovered by astronomer John Herschel on September 15, 1828. [4]

NGC 7303 is a Spiral Galaxy in the Pegasus constellation. NGC 7303 is situated north of the celestial equator and, as such, it is more easily visible from the northern hemisphere. Given its B magnitude of 16, NGC 7303 is visible only through long exposure photography.

NGC 7303 is a very strange galaxy in northwestern Pegasus about 150 million light-years distant by redshift, 160 million by the median of Tully Fisher measurements. It is a LINER galaxy so has a very active nucleus.

The strange appearance of NGC 7303 is probably due to an interaction or merger with another galaxy in the not too distant past.
