2025年1月10日 · The U25B was General Electric's entry into diesel locomotive manufacturing as an independent builder. The company, however, was no stranger to locomotive production. As Brian Solomon notes in his book, " GE Locomotives," it built its first electric locomotive for main line applications in 1893.

Inside the U25B. As mentioned earlier, the U25B is powered by Cooper-Bessemer’s 4 stroke, 16 cylinder FDL-16 diesel engine (and, in 1963, the FDL-16A, beginning with C&O 2515) which generates electricity to the four axle-mounted GE-752 traction motors housed in its Type B trucks.

2020年3月16日 · The U25B was the first domestic GE road diesel. Hundreds of export Universal Series road diesels were built before the U25B was announced.
