2023年2月23日 · Closer vs Closer. One statement from the closer ( the one that gets the deal done ), maybe fiending, quite possibly willing to say whatever it takes, likely an internal monologue. Then beautifully, tactically ,cynically recomposed to what is more palatable to the ear of the seductee-> you bring me closer to god.

When the Closer video came out on MTV back in the day, I thought that all the "censored" clips were just an artistic flourish, meant to invoke mystery, and that there wasn't actually anything that had been censored. I figured it was in the same style of the video and surely no one would censor themselves, so I always took it as part of the art.

As much as Closer is one of the most accessible, radio friendly songs on TDS, it is also musically complex. This is a song of contrast. Everything is contrasted against everything else in terms of what that thing is particularly known for. I’d probably argue that is Trent/NIN in general though.

I am 18 and live in a part of Europe where most people don’t really know anything about NIN (maybe they recognise Closer from clubs but that’s it) and so when I discovered this insane collection of music and the man behind it I became obsessed.

2020年9月28日 · Well I wouldn’t be surprised if Poke in the Ear Volume 1 featured samples form other libraries, less so if you are saying it also samples straight NIN music. This would only help to confirm that Pole I’m the Ear ripped the Closer sample from elsewhere, maybe after learning that NIN used the sample.

I know this was 4 years ago but I’m currently working on a project for a live tribute show to NIN’s Downward Spiral album. I’m part of a duo that’s tasked with all the “electronic stuff” and your video was a lifeline. Thank you!
