
EMD F40PH - Wikipedia
The EMD F40PH is a four-axle 3,000–3,200 hp (2.2–2.4 MW) B-B diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division in several variants from 1975 to 1992. Intended for use on Amtrak 's short-haul passenger routes, it became the backbone of Amtrak's diesel fleet after the failure of the EMD SDP40F.

4124 leads an evening rush hour westbound train from Hoboken bound for Bay Head. 4335 with 5021-6-4124 on its way towards Bay Head, 12:50 PM. This is the only F-40 I saw running on the Coast Line today. Here come the troops! F40PH-2 # 4124 heads a North Jersey Coast Line train thru Rahway. 2305 passes the Manasquan 7-Eleven at 4:03 PM.

The F40's, surrounded by old-styled PL signals and the ancient infrastructure of the station, certainly gave a retro feel to an excellent day riding 7up and down the coast line on NJT's 40th anniversary celebration train.

Pictures of NJT 4116
NJT 4116 is still fairly new with a train on 16 depot while the 4159, still in DOT colors, is on 12 depot. One of the New York bound trains comes in to South Amboy, where it will cut off and get an E60 for the rest of the trip to Penn Station. 4116 shows off it's fresh paint at the Altoona Shops Open House October 1987. Taken during 1991.
