4 天之前 · What is the status of the NKP 624 Mikado that the Fort Wayne Historically Society planned on or did move? I have been unable to find any info and the last time anything was posed was in 2017. Where is she currently? Is she at or around theFort Wayne shop with 765? I am just curious of the current whereabouts of this loco. Thanks! -NS6770Fan

2 天之前 · NKP 624 was built with a Worthington BL feedwater heater. NKP 639 was built with an Elesco HD feedwater heater. Both engines were built with booster motors in their Delta trailing trucks. Both engines had both the feedwater heaters and boosters removed between 1951-1954. I'm working on nailing down the exact dates.

2025年3月13日 · The 587 was retired with a 13RA tender, which means that the NKP could have switched things up a bit right before the engine was donated. 624, a Lima product for the NKP, could have easily been given this tender during WWII (as one of the twenty-five ordered.) Since I don't know the year of construction for the 624, I can't fathom a better guess.

3 天之前 · She is not involved in this deal, and should not be confused with NKP 765, also owned by the Fort Wayne group. Potentially, the Fort Wayne display will eventually include a Wabash 0-6-0, NKP 2-8-2 624, NKP 2-8-4 765, an NKP SD9, plus several lesser items.

5 天之前 · In reply to all the posts about the tender swaps of the NKP, the strory in Trains magazine back in 1989 stated that the the 587 had been retired but another Mike that was still in service, (either 639 or 624, I can't remember), had a failure to it's stoker so the shops just swapped tenders instead of repairing the stoker.
