NP's 10 U33C's were built in July 1969 and numbered 3300-3309 and were on the roster just 8 months when the BN merger occurred. They were then renumbered 5715-5724. The 5720 was wrecked and retired in 1978 while the other nine remained on the BN roster until 1984 when they were retired and sent to PNC for scrapping.

NP's ten GE U33C's were built in July 1969 and numbered 3300-3309. They were on the NP's roster just 8 months when the BN merger occurred. Since this is February, and the 3305 was only on the NP for one February, that being 1970 I was curious to see how many times the 3305 led trains through Easton heading to and from Stampede Pass.

By 1979 BN's U33C's were going into storage and the 5715 was retired in 1984, sold to PNC and scrapped. This site is dedicated to showcasing the motive power of the Burlington Northern Railroad as well as a locomotive's originating railroad.

Both renumbered by their new owner, the former GN SD45 and NP U33C still wear their old coats. New as GN 416 and NP 3303, and recorded here by Al Chione in an unknown location around the early 70's. Retired in the 80's with no record of further service after BN.

U33C Phases. GE used a common body for the various U-boats, so this list is based on phases of the U30B.

The GE U33C is a 6-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems between January 1968 and January 1975. [1] 375 examples of this locomotive were built for 11 North American railroads and one construction contractor. 5701 was wrecked and never wore the BN Cascade Green.
