This ex-EL unit may remember a similar flood in 1972 from Hurricane Agnes, only she would have been up on the Tier! NS 1701 began as Erie Lackawanna SD45-2 3670 in 1972, then became CR 6655, working many years in helper service around Horseshoe Curve, finally being rebuilt to SD40-2 specs before the Conrail split-up in 1999.

Male a note of the trailing engines fuel tank, the huge "coast to coast" fuel tank reveals that it is a former Erie Lackawanna SD45-2...NS 1701, Ex-CR 6655, Exx EL 3670.

NS 1701 started life in October, 1972 as Erie Lasckawanna 3670. It went to Conrail on 01 April 1976 and was renumbered 6655 and passed to NS on "Split Day" 01 June 1999 to become NS 1701. The setting winter sun illuminates the sides of CSXT SD40-2 8817 and NS SD45-2 as they drag Shared Assets train WPCA-11 north.
