Note: NS 4653 was initially renumbered as NS 6653, but was renumbered again as NS 6649 before being released to service. This was done to avoid reusing the road number 6653, which previously belonged to NS EMD SD60 6653, which was one of the units involved in the deadly Graniteville, SC wreck from 2005.

The song is fictionalized account of a husband attempting to rouse his wife from sleep to escape the dangers of the chemical spill. NS 6653, the lead engine of 192 that day, was repaired and later rebuilt as an SD60E bearing the number 6900. [citation needed] [17]

The locomotive received upgrades to the motor, fuel tank (On earlier rebuilds), and microprocessor controls to name a few. The first SD60E rolled out in 2010 as number 6900, which was rebuilt from NS 6653. Soon, more would follow and the current totals are at 136 rebuilt so far (NS 6900-7035).

This cab was designed by NS with input from outside consultants and train crews. Fabricated by Curry Railroad Supply, a local vendor, it looks unlike anything else on U.S. rails with its pronounced numberboard/headlight housing and flat front with a centered cab door.
