Electro-Motive GP9 Diesels 1456, Class GP9, was built in March 1958, #24519, FN 5578-17, as New York Chicago & St Louis 526, Class ERS-17E. In January 1966 it became Norfolk & Western 2526 and became Norfolk Southern 1456, Class GP-9, It was retired on April 9, 1984, and traded in to Electro-Motive.

Low nose GP9 rebuild. NS GP9!!!

4 天之前 · Rebuilt former NS SD70 units with AC traction and EMD widenose and cab. Cabless four-axle, 2-engine genset locomotive. Rebuilt from GP38, GP38AC, and GP40 units. All units have been rebuilt with a new cab and low short hood. Rebuilt from SD40. Former CEFX lease units acquired from CIT Finance in 08-2011.

There was indeed 1 unrebuilt GP9 that got fully repainted NS. Former Southern 6254 which worked as a training unit at McDonough GA for years wore a full coat. Member "Peachfuzz" has a beautiful shot of it in very clean black paint.
