The NS18 is built on Aura's Neo-Radial motor design which is an arrangement of NDFeb rare earth magnets arrayed around the voice coil in close proximity to it. The motor system is a shaped outer case in which the cluster of magnets are glued at the top in a position that would normally be where the top plate forms the outside of the gap.

They started by combining a massive version of the patented Neo-Radial Technology (NRT) motor with an underhung 4" diameter high temperature voice coil to give this driver a particularly long stroke.

2017年5月7日 · The Aura NS18 was one of the best IB subs I have ever heard. I put it up there with the JBL wGTI subs from several years ago. I have not ever heard it used in a sealed enclosure though.

2015年9月16日 · The Aura NS18 is arguably an actual subwoofer driver. The BMS (my new favorite pro midbass) is just that, it's a pro-style woofer and high sensitivity. It is not really designed for low frequencies like the NS18 would but the BMS is much higher in sensitivity.

2011年9月3日 · You don't need a driver as good as the NS18 if your crossover point is so low. A better idea is to think about using it up to 100Hz at least.

2022年11月4日 · There's almost $200 in steel in just the motor and it only weighs 18 pounds. But it's locally sourced with ASTM instead of Chinese steel so it's not melted skyscrapers. I would hope people that would want to buy one would want it for its low distortion and high output performance more than as a "novelty".
