NS2 - HCV Proteins - Hepatitis C Online
The nonstructural protein 2 (NS2) has dual functions in the HCV life cycle—as a cysteine protease and as a cofactor in the assembly process. The protease domain of the NS2 protein, in cooperation with the N-terminal region of NS3, functions as a cysteine protease to catalyze a single cleavage between the NS2 and NS3 proteins.
Hepatitis C virus nonstructural protein 2 - Wikipedia
NS2 is one of seven nonstructural proteins in HCV, with each being encoded near the carboxy-terminal end of the positive-strand RNA virus. Once translated it is 217 amino acids in length and has a molecular weight of approximately 23 kDa.
NS2 Protein of Hepatitis C Virus Interacts with Structural and
2011年2月10日 · We show that NS2 transmembrane region is crucial for both E2 interaction and subcellular localization. Moreover, specific mutations in core, envelope proteins, p7 and NS5A reported to abolish viral assembly changed the subcellular localization of NS2 protein.
NS2 proteases from hepatitis C virus and related hepaciviruses …
2018年2月7日 · In this study, we characterized and evaluated the conservation of the proteolytic mode of action and regulatory mechanisms of NS2 across HCV and animal hepaciviruses. We first demonstrated that NS2 from equine, bat, rodent, New and Old World primate hepaciviruses also are cysteine proteases.
Hepatitis C Virus p7 and NS2 Proteins Are Essential for …
Since the HCV proteins p7 and NS2 are not predicted to be major components of the virion, nor are they required for RNA replication, we investigated whether they might have other roles in the viral life cycle. Here we utilize the recently described infectious J6/JFH chimera to establish that the p7 and NS2 proteins are essential for HCV ...
HCV NS2/3 Protease - Hepatitis C Viruses - NCBI Bookshelf
The hepatitis C virus NS2/3 protein is a highly hydrophobic protease responsible for the cleavage of the viral polypeptide between non-structural proteins NS2 and NS3. However, many aspects of the NS2/3 protease’s role in the viral life cycle and mechanism of …
Palmitoylation of Hepatitis C Virus NS2 Regulates Its ... - PubMed
2019年12月12日 · In this study, we discovered that NS2 palmitoylation is the master regulator of its multiple functions, including NS2-mediated self-cleavage and HCV envelope protein recruitment to the virus assembly sites, which in turn promote HCV RNA replication and infectious-particle assembly, respectively.
Hepatitis C Virus NS2 Protein Is Phosphorylated by the Protein …
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural 2 (NS2) protein is a hydrophobic transmembrane protein, described to be involved in different functions, such as apoptosis inhibition and gene transcription modulation. We investigated here NS2 protein turnover ...
NS2 protein of hepatitis C virus interacts with structural and non ...
2011年2月10日 · Growing experimental evidence indicates that, in addition to the physical virion components, the non-structural proteins of hepatitis C virus (HCV) are intimately involved in orchestrating morphogenesis. Since it is dispensable for HCV RNA replication, the non-structural viral protein NS2 is suggest …
