NSF is a standards-writing body accredited by the American National Standards Institute, which has led the development of more than 100 standards over the past 75 years.

USP’s Dietary Supplement Verification Program is open to manufacturers of dietary supplement finished products from around the world. USP verifies dietary supplements containing vitamins like B, C, D, and E, minerals like calcium, and other dietary supplements like melatonin, CoQ10, botanicals, and probiotics.

NSF certifies products against NSF/ANSI 173, the only American National Standard that establishes requirements for the ingredients in dietary and nutritional supplements. There are three main components of the NSF dietary supplements certification program:
