The Northwest Regional Professional Development Program (NWRPDP), in accordance with Nevada Revised statutes, is committed to elevate student performance by providing sustained professional learning for educators. We strive to build productive regional partnerships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits.

NWRPDP offers diverse professional learning opportunities and support that is based on current empirical research on effective instruction for student learning. In addition, we are committed to increasing communication between regional members and parents in order to build capacity among all partnerships and to increase student achievement.

During the 2015-16 school year, the Northwest Regional Professional Development Program (NWRPDP) facilitators supported teachers and administrators in a variety of content areas across the region’s six districts. Support for diverse learners and parent/family engagement were an integral part of all trainings and workshops.

Districts range in size from 445 in Storey County to over 61,000 in Washoe County; schools range in size from 203 students to over 2,200 students. The NWRPDP serves Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon, Storey, and Washoe County School Districts, as well as schools governed by the State Public Charter School Authority.

The NWRPDP work targets three broad categories: 1) Meeting district requests for services (e.g., NVACS, differentiation, student engagement), 2) Fulfilling legislated mandates (e.g., NVACS, NEPF, Parent Engagement), and 3) Supporting individual teachers and schools (e.g., coaching, credit classes, modeling, instructional rounds).

Ben has over 28 years in education where he has served as Kindergarten through 6th grade teacher, an instructional coach and Principal. He is honored to work alongside the amazing NWRPDP staff and to support the goals of all the districts served by NWRPDP.
