2022年9月1日 · Thanks largely to its adoption by Canada’s famed North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) and the American public’s infatuation with the Mounties, packing the good old American Winchester, the ’76 NWMP carbine did much in the late 19th century to solidify the New Haven firm’s reputation for reliability and quality.

2016年12月6日 · The guns were marked "NWMP" on their backstraps, along with a special issue number. Designations would change over the gun's half-century service life. Some were simply marked "NWMP" on the backstraps without an issue number, and when the unit became the Royal North West Mounted Police in 1904, subsequent arms were stamped "RNWMP."

Here is a nice example of the famous NWMP SRC. 1876 Winchester North West Mounted Police Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial number is seen and recorded in all the books that have the documentation on the NWMP SRC's. 22" barrel retains about 25-30% original blue with remainder a nice gray / brown patina.

These carbines saw service in the NWMP as well as other groups like the Legion of Frontiersmen from 1878 until the beginning of the First World War. This gun is in the 39,000 range and is listed by serial number in "Arms and Accoutrements of the Mounted Police, 1873-1973" by Donald Klancher and "Winchester's North West Mounted Police Carbines ...

Very strong and prominent “NWMP” cartouche in right side of butt as well as a Canadian property number “APP 163” to rear of lower tang. This gun is documented as having been mfg in 1885 and was received in a group of 150 said carbines by the Northwest Mounted Police in March 1885.

45-75 Winchester; very good bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, Manufactured in 1882 and part of a shipment of "New Model" 1876 carbines sent on May 18th 1882 to the Canadian North West Mounted Police. Stock is stamped on the right side with the N.W.M.P. markings. Blued finish round barrel with fixed front and ladder "sporting leaf" rear sight.

In 1885, the largest group of SRCs was received by the NWMP, that being 446 guns. More were likely purchased but the records are incomplete. The marking shown in the photo to the right (as on the reproduction) wasn't uniformly applied so it …
