The EMD GP20 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between November 1959 and April 1962. Power was provided by an EMD 16-567D2 16- cylinder turbocharged engine which generated 2,000 horsepower (1,500 kW).

2023年4月29日 · The GP20 was the second EMD locomotive with a factory installed turbocharger following the six axle EMD SD24. The turbo charged EMD 567D2 prime mover in the SD-24 produced 33% more power than the SD-18 that utilized a Roots Blower.

The basic logic behind the GP20 was that three modern GP20s could do the job of four antiquated 1500 horsepower units. On the NYC and later the PC the GP20s were mainline power into the early 1970s.

2021年10月16日 · NYC GP20 #2103 is back in service with a proper sized road number from the Microscale Decal set 87-88. The NYC purchased a total of fifteen GP20s numbered 6100-6114. Two units, the 6106 and 6109, were wrecked and removed from service prior to 1966.
