EMD offered six different gear ratios for the GP9, depending on a railroad's need. They were, of course, most often used in freight assignments, but were also available with optional steam generators for passenger or freight assignments. Chicago, Burlington & Quincy GP9 #288 is seen here at work in Kansas City, circa 1965.

2018年10月29日 · The roster below is comprehensive for Conrail's GP9 between April 1976 and the retirement of the last unit, and contains all predecessor units of the locomotive class that Conrail inherited. If numbers are missing from the roster, Conrail intentionally left them open.

A new GP9 add-on is available on my website, featuring the entire GP9 'Lightning Stripe' liveried roster of the New York Central railroad. That is eight subclasses of passenger and freight units, in two paint schemes, with long- and short hood forward running versions.

The attached photo shows #5906 in 1959. It appears some (all?) freight GP9's were delivered in two-tone gray and then repainted to black & gray freight colors at their first major shopping. In the photo, the locomotive behind #5906 is #5950, a DRS-9d, delivered in a different order from the same time period.
