There seems to be more opportunity, aside from the tactical stuff like ESU, regarding criminal investigations and plainclothes work in the NYPD but NYSP has more “outdoorsy” units like snowmobile/ATV, underwater recovery team, etc. Pay seems better with NYPD but overall benefits and QOL seem better with NYSP.
