Manahi Nitama Paewai OBE OStJ (8 June 1920 – 10 October 1990), also known as Doc Paewai, was a New Zealand doctor, rugby player, local politician and community leader. A Māori from the Ngāti Kahungunu and Rangitāne iwi, he was born near Makirikiri Marae in Hawke's Bay.

Manahi Nītama Paewai, sometimes known as ‘Doc’ Paewai, was born on 8 June 1920 at Mākirikiri, south of Dannevirke. His father, Nireaha (Niki) Paewai of Ngāti Te Rangiwhakāewa hapū of Rangitāne, was a farmer. His mother, Apikara Walker, was of Ngāti Rākaipaaka hapū of Ngāti Kahungunu.

Paewai was a keen advocate for helping people break the cycle of debt. In 1960 he co-founded the Kaikohe Advice and Guidance Society, a Budget Counselling Scheme which later spread throughout New Zealand.
