The first season of FLCL is a coming-of-age story and revolves around Naota Nandaba, a 12-year-old, working-class boy living with his widower father and grandfather. His life in the Japanese city of Mabase is interrupted by the arrival of a Vespa -riding maniac named Haruko Haruhara.

Naota is initially dazed by the experience and gains a large bump on his forehead, but eventually remarks that all the ashes from the school fire are blown away. Haruko tells them to hurry before the authorities arrive, but Naota and Mamimi are preoccupied with looking at each other. Naota decides in his head to stay by Mamimi's side forever.

Twelve-year-old Naota Nandaba is the main character. His name is derived from the Japanese word for "honesty" and his father named him Naota because of that (Fooly Cooly). Unbeknownst to him, he has the "right kind of head" to be used as an N.O. channel.

2020年4月25日 · Naota might not have been the most interesting character that has ever been shown in an anime but he kind of grew on fans of Fooly Cooly. So much so, that many clamored for him to be somewhere in the new plot of Fooly Cooly Progressive .
