
National Diet - Wikipedia
The National Diet (Japanese: 国会, Hepburn: Kokkai) is the national legislature of Japan. It is composed of a lower house, called the House of Representatives (衆議院, Shūgiin), and an upper house, the House of Councillors (参議院, Sangiin). Both houses are directly elected under a parallel voting system.
Description: This diet consists of pureed, homogenous, and cohesive foods. Food should be “pudding-like.” No coarse textures, raw fruits or vegetables, nuts, and so forth allowed. Any foods that require bolus formation, controlled manipulation, or mastication are excluded.

The National Diet. The Constitution of Japan was promulgated on November 3, 1946, and went into effect on May 3, 1947. The first session of the National Diet was convened on May 20 of that year.

The National Diet Building (国会議事堂, Kokkai-gijidō) is the building where both houses of the National Diet of Japan meet. It is located at Nagatachō 1-chome 7–1, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Sessions of the House of Representatives take place in the south wing and sessions of the House of Councillors in the north wing.
