NieR isn't "sad." I never cried, my heart strings were never pulled, etc. Instead, it is "oppressive" - There's this constant feeling of hopelessness and everything constantly goes wrong.

I think both are pretty sad, but it depends on person to person. In my case, I instantly empathized with Nier simply because of Yonah. Because of their struggle and sibling bond, I was emotionally invested in Replicant from the start.

2017年3月21日 · The machine intelligences and Androids are imo all sad, when you think about what ending E implied, you also gotta accept that Androids exist because machine intelligence built them (blackboxes are machine intelligence built), that the war is an infinite cycle that only exists because the machine intelligence allows it in order to evolve itself.

Automata has one of the happiest endings ever. Get it if you like those sorts of things. Just don't read into the ending too much or you'll find people trying to convince you that it's sad :) Now...

2021年5月17日 · I'm curious to how long have you felt sad after finishing NieR:Automata. I've finished the game about 10 days ago. I almost never cry, and I didn't cry after finishing the game either, but I confess I was deeply sad. I couldn't even listen to the OST without feeling sad.

2021年5月3日 · Ending E removes an important part of Nier’s identity and one of the boldest moments in gaming. Ending D’s full weight is gone once you know that nothing is truly lost. Nier sacrificing himself is still sad, but losing your data becomes mere performance on the game’s part.
