Aug 6, 2009 · There are different technologies for night vision, most stemming from military use. The cheap "consumer" stuff you'll find at good prices are just that, cheap. For the most part they just shine a red light and the goggles pick up the red spectrum. The military grade stuff can be had for more money.
Poor Eyesight and Trying to Work With Small Tippets
Apr 7, 2013 · I know what thats like. Driving at night is tougher. Have to quit fishing before dark and plan my drive time home. Having surgery on Monday to remove fluid in the right eye to relieve the pressure. Last 6 steroid injections in the right eye have not worked. Hopefully this will help keep my vision a little longer.

Nov 26, 2009 · The key to color vision is to have cones that are sensitive to the dominant wavelength in the environment and to have other cones that are sensitive to wavelengths that are offset from the dominant wavelength. You want to be able to detect the background (the dominant wavelength) and reflected wavelengths that contrast with the dominant wavelength.

Jan 4, 2008 · One of my coworkers at Subase Bangor was into fly fishing, I was into fishing with flies but didn't have a fly rod. He took me to Tacoma one night to a meeting of Puget Sound Fly Fishers. Lucky me, spent $5.00 on raffle tickets and won a fly rod (blank) and a reel. I was hooked. The next month I joined and won a six pack of home brew.

Oct 2, 2015 · This likely goes without saying, but one concern I have when using it is potential vision hazards. Probably just paranoia on my part since I work with high intensity UV sources in my job (stuff that will blind in an instant). Paranoia or not, I try to avoid viewing the beam directly. Especially if I'm curing on reflective materials.

Jan 5, 2023 · I use a fast action 8 wt for salt water sight fishing, where I'm not making one cast after another from can't see in the morning 'til can't see at night. For all day streamer fishing I use a medium action 6 or 8 wt, and I can hold the tendonitis at bay.

May 28, 2009 · The research that has been done on color vision in diurnal fish indicate that the ability to detect colors should be similar to our own. Fishes found in different habitats (nocturnal, open ocean, black-water rivers) do have different visual pigments that are matched to the ambient light in those environments.

Dec 15, 2018 · Interesting. There's an installation with four turbines on the ridge behind Grayland. I can see them from my back porch this time of year, through the bare Alder branches. At night, I can see the red blinking lights. Those four huge white towers and their blades don't bother me. I can see them from the beach, if there aren't any trees in the way.
