In trying to figure out how to open it to either lube the fan or replace it, I unplugged the Roamio and then plugged it back it about about 2-3 times, with the higher pitched and noisier howling on start up seeming to confirm it was the fan.

2007年5月18日 · One situation where you would definitely notice a difference is when comparing a Seagate Barracuda Desktop drive to a Seagate DB35 750GB drive. Why? The DB35 is quieter, and the Barracude happens to be a *particularly* noisy drive. Guess what? Its just a firmware difference - the Barracuda is tuned for faster seek times and is noisier as a result.

2020年9月24日 · Green drives are no longer made. Greens are also more noisier than Red. Red drives ending in EFRX (avoid EFAX, for now) purple ending in PURX or PURZ. Roamio will self-format up to 3TB and needs to be connected to a computer for up to 8TB. Edit: There is now an augment to the Red drives called Red Plus and this line should be the GOTO drives.

2019年4月1日 · Green is also more noisier then the Reds with all the activity in a Tivo. I have a WD 4TB Red in a Roamio and a WD 1TB Green in a Series 3 and the S3 is louder then the Roamio.

2015年10月16日 · Well, I've seen two other newer Bolts and they sound like that. I got mine in August. Tivo must have changed the fan provider at some point to save money. Maybe I'll replace it with the one RickK suggested if it gets any noisier.

2014年1月7日 · Thanks for the review. What kind of "bearings" does the winner have; ball or sleeve? Doesn't seemed to be mentioned at newegg? I suspect sleeve bearing. Half the rated lifetime of the ball bearing models. Potential to become noisier, earlier.
