The NSRC has developed two comprehensive, inquiry-based science curriculum programs for K-8 students: 24 units for grades K-6 – Science and Technology for Children®(STC), and 8 units for grades 6-8 – Science and Technology Concepts for Middle SchoolsTM (STC/MS), completed in September 2002.

STC-Secondary™ is an inquiry-centered middle school science curriculum developed by the NSRC, a Smithsonian Institution organization. Each STC-Secondary™ unit allows students to experience scientific phenomena firsthand.

The NSRC designed these research-based and inquiry-centered curriculum programs to align with the National Science Education Standards of the National Research Council. In 2004, the NSRC self-published 12 science books (STC BOOKS [TM]) to add a literacy component to the 4th through 6th grade STC units.

Established in 1985 as the National Science Resources Center (NSRC) under the sponsorship of two prestigious institutions – the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academy of Sciences – the Center is dedicated to the establishment of effective science programs for all students.

The NSRC is an intermediary organization that bridges research on how children learn with best practices for the systemic educational reform from the classroom to the state leadership.
