Although recovered from the Whangaehu River and taken away to Hutt Workshops, it was no longer repaired and officially written off in April 1955 as it was damaged beyond repair.

The Tangiwai disaster was a deadly railway accident that occurred at 10:21 p.m. on 24 December 1953, when a railway bridge over the Whangaehu River collapsed beneath an express passenger train at Tangiwai, North Island, New Zealand. I did download the NZR Northener coaches but there is an unknown asset in them (kuid2:2512:50254:1) and as a result they come up as faulty assets. I was able to download a couple of NZR diesels.
