At this moment I would have to say my shmup is Mushihimesama. I own a lot of shmups both paid and emulated, and Mushihimesama is still on my switch and still getting played every week. I have Progear, DDP Resurrection, Espgaluda 2, Deathsmiles 1+2, and even Esp Ra De Psi, but Mushihimesama is the game.

Okay. by Sorta. I mean I play 2D Platformers all the time which often include Shmup Segments (Megaman 8, Dynamite Headdy, even Sonic Adventure had a Shoot-em up section in them even Super Mario Land has one!) but I've never played a game that's SOLELY a Shmup...

Raioh (雷凰) is a shmup by Ontake Workshop created in Unity and released for STEAM in October 6th 2023. The game is a tribute to Raiden, Kyukyoku Tiger and Daioh. For replay videos, visit the Video Index. Similar to Raiden, the player can fire shots and bombs, as well pickup weapon variants.

2019年12月3日 · Not a traditional Shmup, but DS has Bangai-O Spirits. There's Nanostray and Nanostray 2. Both have their merits but are ultimately only alright-ish Euro shmups. The 2nd one has some nice music, though. There's also a bossfight-only Ketsui spinoff that makes for a fun handheld game.
