What causes banding on OLED TVs, and can I guard against it?
2020年7月18日 · OLED banding is totally different. Usually you see it on very dark scenes, like panning across a night shot of mostly sky. Some source material it will show up and on other stuff it won't. I have no idea why. here's a good example of banding, not on real content though

2017年7月14日 · Hey guys what brightness/oled light settings are you using for the 5% grey test, I initially tested it and I seen a bit of banding and some black blobs but then I realized the tv was on power saving mode which has oled light completely off. So with oled light max and brightness 50% it was near perfect and with brightness set to 100% it was perfect.

MLA has at least sorted out the off axis colour shift. Samsung's QD-OLED panels have minimal to no banding. No tinting to whites. And have great off axis viewing ...

2021年6月4日 · that’s kind of where I’m at too. Ihave no tint and no vertical banding, but the horizontal banding is noticeable. I fear I’ll just get the same issue plus an extra if I exchange. Not for this set obviously, but I do think I’ll go with an 85 inch led for my next one.

Blacks becom more Grey like LCD with the Gamma Bug. 80% of the time, when you see Color Banding in Games, the banding is in the sky because most games use poorly resolved textures or which are designed with only 6 or 8 bits while the rest of the game is designed for 8 or 10 bits and more.

2023年12月21日 · The WRGB OLED panels can show a very stark change in the banding or clouding after the initial panel compensation cycles, given what I saw on a C7, C8 and a A90J, the QD-OLED's don't seem to. I also got a change in banding over a long period of time on the C8, despite jk82's incredulity.

TLDR; Streaming compression is terrible, resulting in banding and other artifacts because 4k/HDR eats bandwidth. Physical media is the only way to get the best results out of your lux OLED, otherwise, get used to that banding. If you are streaming the movie, then the banding is most certainly the poor compression quality from streamers.

2021年11月1日 · Probably about 500 hours on the panel. It’s my first oled. I convinced myself to jump into the 4K HDR scene, and stop living in the archaic world of 1080p only. Unfortunately I had no clue about banding and oled when I bought. I see definite vertical banding, especially during dark HDR content. I’ll attach photos at different exposures.

2020年11月24日 · Banding is a known problem, especially when using PC mode. I have a B9, which supposedly has worse banding than the C9/CX. Switching from PC mode has been suggested to help a little with the issue, but in my experience the difference is minimal. I have noticed that the problem is much more apparent with SDR than HDR content, though.
