My manual has the 'decoder' but I didn't understand much past the 3.0L and the 'C' version for the engine and the power steering. The drive says "sx cobra" as does the literature that I received with the boat. Thank you for reinforcing my hunch with the drive.

2003年7月11日 · I have always wandered what is the difference between the Mercrusier 3.0L and OMC 3.0L? Dont they both use GMC motors, just different outdrives? Such as mine has a Cobra outdrive. Also if there are any differences which one is better? Thanks in advance :cool:

2009年3月29日 · Your OMC is a GM 3.0 marine engine...same as the Mercruiser. From a Goggle search: "In December of 2000, OMC (Outboard Marine Corporation) filed for bankruptcy but like every other marine engine manufacturer, they started with a GM base marine engine.

I started all over again, detached all the wires from coil and also purple-black from the solenoid. Then I jump wired 12V from battery to coil+ and connected black from points to coil-, cranked and got sparks.

I know because I had a 17' Tempest with the mercruiser and a 20' Sea Sprite OMC and had both motors out on the ground next to each other. The manifolds are diferent and I don't think the exhaust bellow would match up.

2004年7月15日 · Re: 3.0L OMC Engine Max WOT RPM range for a 1979 3.0L OMC Stringer is 4200 to 4600. You need to change from that 17 pitch prop to at least a 21 pitch prop and maybe even a 23 pitch prop.
