The OSCA MT4, also spelled the O.S.C.A. MT4 or Osca MT4, is an Italian sports car prototype, designed, developed, and made by Officine Specializzata Costruzioni Automobili, between 1948 and 1956, but was raced and used in active competition until 1966.

It is 1 of approx. 78 OSCA MT4 built. It carries the very desirable Spyder coachwork. It was sold new in 1954 to Harry Allen Chapman in the USA. The car was raced by Harry Chapman and Bumpy Bell in 1954 and 1955 in Arizona and California.

Four-cylinder in-line engine, double overhead camshafts, 1452 cc, 130 hp at 6300 rpm. This is the world’s most famous sports-racing OSCA. Its four-cylinder d.o.h.c. engine displaces just 1 ½ liters. Its developed horsepower totals only 130. At the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1954, this OSCA was a giant killer. Sixty cars started that race.

With its unique design by Giovanni Michelotti and significant racing history, the OSCA MT4 Berlinetta Vignale, chassis number 1120, remains a standout piece of mid-century Italian motorsport heritage.

Though they would focus on sportscars initially, the brothers would also show an interest in regaining their place in the grand prix market as well.

On paper the OSCA MT4 might not look very impressive, the superb design and exceptional build quality made it the car to beat in the sub-1500 cc class for almost a decade. With class wins in every major race, it is without a doubt the most successful racing car ever constructed by the Maserati brothers.
