It all depends upon how important it is for you to keep those Firewire 800 drives in service. It would likely be more cost effective to buy a new USB 3.1 or Thunderbolt 3 hard drive to replace the Firewire 800 old one.

I don't think that anyone other than OWC has sold FireWire enclosures for years, and OWC dropped their bus-powered notebook enclosure a while ago. Unfortunately, even FireWire 800 will bottleneck a SSD, so you won't get the blazing-fast speed people normally associate with SSDs.

2023年10月17日 · The other is an OWC Mercury Elite Pro with 2 Firewire 800 and 1 USB 3.0 port. The G-Tech has two Firewire 800, eSATA, and USB 2.0 ports. The G-Tech doesn't show up when plugged into USB. I haven't tried the OWC on USB. It does feel like a driver problem, since the hardware has been verified to work with Sonoma on my Intel based 2019 MacBook Pro.
