When a CD is NEW, UNOPENED, the CD is being sold at CD-shops with the OBI, and it's fun to collect a series of CDs with the same-designed OBI. A music fan who is not a collector in Japan usually does NOT keep the OBI. Many persons throw OBI in their dust-boxes. Therefore, many second-hand CDs are selling WITHOUT OBI-STRIP at USED CD SHOPS.

(CD generation gets around this of course with the jewel case) So I'd undertstand not wanting a release with a sticker, but a non-Japanese Obi seems an odd thing to not find at least somewhat interesting to have. Not worth an extra £10 or anything, but if I could chose between obi and not, obviously have an obi.

A release missing the obi is, to me, no different than a CD missing the booklet, an LP missing the jacket or the printed insert, or a 2 LP set missing one of the records. In other words, worthless. Don't want it for free. That might be a bit extreme for me, but given the choice I'd only ever PAY for something that was complete.
