Observium is an autodiscovering SNMP based network monitoring platform written in PHP which includes support for a wide range of network hardware and operating systems including Cisco, Windows, Linux, HP, Dell, FreeBSD, Juniper, Brocade, Netscaler, NetApp and many more.

System data loss is always a matter of when, not if. The Observium upgrade process is expected to go smoothly, so a recent backup may be a enough piece of mind. Regardless, a manual backup immediately prior to a software upgrade is always recommended. The Observium upgrade process(es) documented below keep a copy of your old Observium files.

I keep getting "host can not be resolved" I've done a couple things to try and get naming services running correctly between the observium host and my windows network. I've installed likewise-open on the observium host and joined my windows domain succesfully.

I've attached a screenshot-comparison of both VMs, deployed in the same ESXi server, in the same Datastore. Differences I've noticed: a) Observium has no vmtools (of course) b) Observium is running CPU at max c) Observium uses almost no memory
