Odaiba (お台場) is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Japan, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo. Odaiba was initially built for defensive purposes in the 1850s. The land was dramatically expanded during the late 20th century as a seaport district, and was redeveloped in the 1990s into a major commercial, residential and leisure area.

Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo, featuring many hypermodern and just plain strange buildings memorably described as the result of an acid-soaked pre-schooler's architecture class.

Odaiba is a waterfront area of shopping malls, game centers, and museums. It's a neat place to get a different view point of Tokyo from across the Bay. Top draws include the Odaiba Ferris Wheel and Miraikan museum. Busy on weekends, it is much quieter weekdays.
