Die Baureihe 86 ist eine Einheits-Güterzuglok, zunächst im Flachland auf Nebenstrecken eingesetzt, nach dem WK 2 auch im Mittelgebirgen. Außer Krauss-Maffei waren alle großen Lokomotiv-Fabriken am Bau der 774 Maschinen beteiligt. Bei der DB wurde die letzte 86 im Jahr 1974 ausgemustert.
