OH 24 (Olduvai Hominid No. 24) or Twiggy is a fossilized skull of the species Homo habilis. It was discovered in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania by Peter Nzube in 1968. The skull was found crushed almost flat and was therefore named after the famously skinny model of the time Twiggy.

OH 24 is the oldest fossil skull found at Olduvai Gorge; besides OH 5, it is the most complete. The cranium was found crushed flat (hence the nickname) and cemented together with a coating of limestone. Little value was placed on the find originally, but after much effort by scientist Ron Clarke, the skull was reconstructed.

2024年1月3日 · OH 24 is the oldest fossil skull found at Olduvai Gorge; besides OH 5, it is the most complete. Its third molars had erupted, so we know it was an adult at death, yet the molars show no sign of wear, indicating that this individual probably died soon after their eruption.

This skull was found by Peter Nzube in 1968 at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania. This skull marked the oldest hominid from Olduvai dated at 1.8 million years, and belonged to an adult female. The specimen was encased in a coating of limestone, was fragmented and had been squashed under the weight of rocks in which it was buried.
