TORONTO – On April 01, 2024, the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) became Law Enforcement Complaints Agency (LECA) under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019. LECA operates in much the same way that the OIPRD did, continuing to receive, screen, and investigate public complaints concerning police conduct.
