2017年4月13日 · Fujii Okimitsu was born in Hagakure of Hizen Province on June 26, 1939. He moved to England on April 1, 1967 and was a key figure in the development of the British Kendo Association (he holds membership no. 1). In the late 1970’s he established his first Kenseikai Dojo (Sword Saint Society) in Great Britain.

This is a rare, traditionally-forged katana by Okimitsu, a highly skilled Japanese swordsmith from Nishinoshima, Oki District, Shimane Prefecture. Made in September 1942 (Shōwa 17), this sword is not a mass-produced military Guntō, but rather a Gendaitō, crafted using traditional Japanese swordsmithing techniques.
