This digital collection includes georeferenced scans of a selection of maps, sketches, tracings and notes created between 1846 and 1895 and held by the Surveyor General of BC.

The online database of historical maps covering what is now British Columbia was originally compiled by Bruce Ward and Robert C. “Bob” Harris with the assistance and input of many members of the society, including Bert Farley and Derek Hayes.

We have more than 200 maps of the B.C. area dating from the colonial period and before. Most of these were included with, or filed with, the correspondence itself. Maps outlined in green have been annotated and enriched with links to placename information. A larger collection of maps is available at the UVic Libraries Early BC Maps site.

2025年2月19日 · The maps are both historic and those drawn up by Harris for his trips, incorporating old trails on current maps. While the inclusive dates of the map collection are from 1835 - 1981, the majority of these maps were created from 1880 -1930.

Shows rivers, lakes and trails from Lytton to the Cottonwood River and from the Fraser River east to Quesnel Lakes.
