Checker Motors was an American vehicle manufacturer based in Kalamazoo, Michigan that built the iconic Checker Taxicab, sold commercially as the Checker Marathon until 1982. [1] Both companies were owned by Morris Markin by the 1930s.

From that beginning until about 1940 the Checker factory built speciality cabs with unique features, specifically for the people transport business.

This 1978 Checker A11 Taxicab was purchased new by the seller from DeWitt Motor Company in Akron, Ohio. A 327ci V8 was overhauled and installed in 1987, and the car was repainted in yellow following the replacement of the fenders and quarter panels in 1991.
