2019年1月22日 · So, my first thought was an Old Timer. But when I shopped, the Old Timers were in plastic bubble packs, hanging from a peg, and priced under $20 (Gunstock Trapper). The Case knives were behind glass, came in boxes and the one l'm looking at is priced at $65 (mini copperlock). That said, I keep hearing about Old Timer, over and over and over.

2018年10月7日 · I have had fewer issues with the newer Schrade/Old Timer/Uncle Henry knives than I did with the USA made ones, to be honest. Fit and finish is about equal, the newer ones stay sharp a little longer, IMHO, and most importantly, Taylor got rid of the Swendon Key construction!!!! (BTI does not use the Swendon Key construction, either.)

2013年7月15日 · Schrade the better steel, Case the better knife. The steel aspect has already been covered. Old Timers used (for the most part) synthetic covers and Swindon Key construction; Case red bone is legendary, and their through-pin construction holds up better and is more easily remedied if blade wobble presents itself.

2024年11月25日 · Prior to the bankruptcy in 2004, Schrade USA made a change to the tang stamp on Old Timer knives with covers other than the standard Saw Cut Delrin. For example: "8OTY" for an 8OT with smooth yellow Delrin covers, and 8OTW for the same knife with wood covers. I think they also had "Schrade+" in the tang stamp.

I established a long-running dialogue with the seller, a Texas hog hunter past his hunting days, and unraveled the story of the knife from the time it came to him as a replacement knife from Schrade until it reached my hand.

2016年1月19日 · This is why I no longer think it is a re-blade because I can't find a single blade Old Timer model that was 4 1/8". That includes the 1940T which was 3 7/8" and a liner lock. The second thing is a statement by Dale Vincent in his list of Old Timer Models on AAPK where you referred me to earlier.

2013年2月4日 · MOST of USA Schrade's older blades were either 1095 (Old Timer series) or 440A (Uncle Henry line, and some of the Old Timers). Later stainless knives were transitioned to 420HC, as mentioned above. The OT 1095 blades are among the best I've ever used. Easy sharpening, and takes phenomenally-sharp edges (and holds them well).
