The most severe cyclone to make landfall in Oman in the past 12 months was »Asna«. It reached a wind speed of up to 56 km/h on September 1, 2024 at 7:00 pm local time near Sur and was 96 kilometers in diameter at the time. According to the internationally accepted Saffir-Simpson classification, this corresponded to a tropical depression cyclone.

Shaheen delivered extreme rainfall to Oman, causing flooding across a wide area of the country's northeastern governorates. Muscat saw particularly heavy flooding, which submerged cars and other low-lying objects.
