2008年4月25日 · I've been using Onyx for years -- definitely a reliable, trustworthy program. One of the first things I'll do after finally getting around to downloading and installing Ventura on my Macs will be to also install the Onyx version for Ventura.

Yes, I'm serious -- there is no reason to bother messing about with all sorts of power user utilities if you haven't encountered any issues. I hate to burst Chase R's bubble, but he's actually impairing the performance of his Mac by deleting all his caches regularly.

2008年8月31日 · In the Maintenance section of Onyx is the option to either Update Optimization or do Full Optimization. The latter takes a long time and is largely unnecessary in OS X. Optimization is intended to take system files that have been scattered about in the day-to-day running of the computer and regroup them for more rapid access.

2011年3月24日 · After using Onyx, it gave me an extra 2.2 GB of Free Space. When using CleanMyMac, it found 11.04 GB of stuff that can be removed, but I can't remove it, unless I buy it ($29.95 for LifeTime Use). Anyway, which is better, Onyx or CleanMyMac? Or, is there a better app that will clean your Mac to have it run smoother and faster?

2008年1月28日 · Cocktail and Mac Pilot are shareware. OnyX is free. I stopped using Cocktail when it was converted from freeware to shareware. Mac Pilot is primarily a customization utility, whereas the others are primarily maintenance utilities. On rare occasion, I will run OnyX. However, there is no real benefit to any of this stuff.

2025年3月13日 · Here is the link to the program I have used for many years to clean up unnecessary files from the system. Mac Os is after the first start when you have run the default settings in Onyx significantly faster to start programs, among other things. Always make a fresh backup of your system before using this program for the first time.

2003年8月31日 · You don't say what Mac you are using, but in any case you need to distinguish between Directory repair utilities and clean up utilities which offer a variety of maintenance tasks. The main tools which can repair the Directory are Disk Utility First Aid, and third party ones Disk Warrior, TechTool, Drive Genius etc.
