It's a temperate rainforest, and you'll find it in the northwestern part of the state.

The Valley of the Giants contains all the features of an old-growth forest—large standing and fallen trees, logs and stumps, understory plants, fungi, and mosses. This spectacular topography can be seen right alongside the trail.

The Tillamook Rainforest is a temperate rainforest located in the Coast Range of northwestern Oregon, United States, between Hillsboro and Tillamook in Washington and Tillamook counties. Part of the forest is administered as part of the Tillamook State Forest.

The Coast Range is a temperate rain forest where rainfall ranges from 60 inches to over 100 inches at higher elevations. Rainfall occurs mostly from October through June. Further inland, annual precipitation is approximately 30 inches at the lower elevations of the Siskiyou Mountains.

From the parking area, hike up the slope to immediately enter an old-growth forest of Sitka spruce, Douglas-fir, western hemlock and red alder. You'll cross a small creek, and switchback among salmonberry, elderberry, sword fern, and deer fern. Make a winding traverse in an understory of salmonberry thickets.
