2024年11月30日 · The Foxtrot originated in the summer of 1914 by Vaudeville actor Harry Fox. Born Arthur Carringford in Pomona, California, in 1882, he adopted the stage name of "Fox" after his grandfather. Harry was thrown on his own resources at the age of fifteen.

There is no question but that the fox-trot was originated in the summer o 1914 by the vaudeville actor Harry Fox. As part of his act [in the New York Theatre] Harry Fox was doing trotting steps to ragtime music, and people referred to his dance as "Fox's Trot."

In 1914, a piece of sheet music was created with the title “Original Foxtrot” by Jack Mcenness and Dorothy Hunter. In the same year, the Reuben Fox-trot was introduced by Miss Sonia Baraban and Charles C. Grohs, another was the Kangaroo Hop which was listed as a Fox Trot and Uriel Davy’s created the Davy’s Foxtrot as well.
