Original Nunu & Willump. Nunu has brown eyes in his artwork, while his eyes are green in game. His eyes are also brown in Grungy Nunu & Willump's artwork. His very first splash art was directly tweaked for the first splash art of his Sasquatch skin.

A young yeti boy named Willump found Nunu and brought him home. From then on Nunu was raised by the yetis, whose culture remains a mystery to most Runeterrans. The boy quickly discovered that the seemingly savage creatures were in fact deeply spiritual beings living in harmony with their environment.

Once upon a time, there was a boy who wanted to prove he was a hero by slaying a fearsome monster—only to discover that the beast, a lonely and magical yeti, merely needed a friend. Bound together by ancient power and a shared love of snowballs, Nunu and Willump now ramble wildly across the Freljord, breathing life into imagined adventures.

Willump is the last known survivor of the original race of Yeti. As a magical yeti, Willump has the ability to sense magic and curses. Additionally, before Willump met Nunu and his music, he had forgotten his own name and those he had once loved.
