How do you really do stereo mic placement in the field?
2006年12月28日 · So I've been reading about variations on ORTF stereo mic techniques and all of the spacing and angle measurements. I've played around with them in the studio and measured with a ruler and protractor. But when I've used them in the field, I've just eyeballed them. Seems to me the only real drawback of this is that it might no be as consistent.

Blending Blumlein and ORTF Choirs - Recording org
ORTF is always surprising how the imaging works so well. I would skip your spot mic altogether. Pick one pair or the other and just process that. 2005年4月20日 · Excellent post Karl. This is the approach to take. Definitely go with ORTF, as its a bit dry, you will probably use some reverb in mastering, so err on the side of a little bit "closer" for the mic positions rather than gamble with "too far away".
I'd like to record the church choir - Recording org
2014年3月24日 · An old UK church can sound excellent to the ear when you are there, while a modern warehouse style church can sound, well, like a warehouse. ORTF and X/Y (which is still my favourite) can be quite simple - you move around and where your ears tell you the balance is good, you fix the mic pair.
Mic recommendation for room recording?
2009年7月4日 · An admitted recording neophyte, I need some recommendations for a mic.
