2017年5月5日 · Can someone explain how the Ortofon OM Cartridge series work. I have an OM5e and someone suggested I could make a tremendous upgrade by replacing the stylus with an OM20. I was always under the impression that it was the cartridge (any manufacture) that needed upgrading to get better sound quality rather than adding a different stylus.

2013年8月18日 · Haven't used an OM5e, but have used an OMB10 (an OM10 sold in bulk to turntable manufacturers) and am listening to a Super OM30 right now. The OM10 wasn't the greatest tracker in the world, but it sounded decent enough for the price.

2012年7月30日 · OM10 is still pretty low on the totem pole. I have an Ortofon 2M Red and Blue and for the $100 extra the 2M Blue costs, I don't find much difference--at least when you consider the cost difference. I have an OM5E, brand new, that I have never used. Might try it tonight and see what it sounds like.

2012年7月9日 · Has anybody compared Ortofon's 2M Red with the Super OM 10/20/30 cartridges? From what i understand, it seems the 2m Red and Blue are the replacement for the old Super OM series. Im currently using an Ortofon OM5E but looking to upgrade as there are still slight issues with IGD and sibilance on the last track of a Vinyl.

2016年12月16日 · OP, you have three problems as I see it: 1 Your phono stage may be suspect. 2 Your turntable is "bass shy". 3 Ortofon MM cartridges tend to sound lean and analytical as opposed to warm and fat. What you need is thick sauce if you want the bass to bloom. I'd start with a Shure SC35C with the N35X stylus and go from there.

The Ortofon 5E stylus is one of the easiest to replace in the world. Slide off, slide on. I replace mine every 2 years.

2021年2月26日 · Very much doubt it, the Super OMs all use the same body and the 5E isn't much more than the lower VM95s, plus Ortofon are generally more expensive than AT, I used normal OMs as my day to day MM cart for thirty five years, I still have a few around, but haven't touched one since I got a VM95ML, now just maybe an OM30 or 40 might match or beat it and I'm not certain of that, but they cost a lot ...
